Pop Models. Women in European Pop Art

Pop Models
22 June - 28 September 2025

Advertising, cartoons, bright colors, and women. These were the defining elements of Pop Art in the 1960s and early 1970s. The role of women in Pop Art was twofold, perhaps even ambiguous. They embodied a stereotypical and desirable ideal, but they also emerged as symbols of liberation. Women were both supermodels and models.
With Pop Models, the MORE Museum puts the focus on the women of Pop Art - both as muses and as makers. The exhibition focuses on Europe, where the movement was often more outspoken and socially engaged than its American counterpart.

Also on view are Ketty La Rocca and Lucia Marcucci.

Curated by Feico Hoekstra.
