Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati, the seat of the regional presidency, is hosting a retrospective dedicated to Lamberto Pignotti, thereby paying tribute to one of the greatest living Florentine artists, who is considered one of the founding fathers of Italian visual poetry.
One of the founders of Gruppo 70, an artist capable of employing and blending the most diverse artistic languages to address the challenges of the contemporary world, Pignotti is represented here with a rich journey through his work, ranging from the visual poems of the 1960s to his most recent works, featuring a selection of his best-known artistic series: Souvenir, Francobolli, Drink Poem, Semiografie, Decomposizione, Visibile Invisibile.
And it is precisely Visibile Invisibile that has been chosen as the title for this exhibition, which showcases an extraordinary exploration of the sign and aesthetic media spanning 60 years of work – artistic, theoretical and lyrical alike.
In this way, we also aim to introduce to the wider public an artist who has been able to capture the most vibrant and innovative trends on the international scene, where he is, moreover, particularly well known and highly regarded.
Special thanks go to Carlo Palli, who has made the works from his collection available.
