As part of the Chigiana International Festival & Summer Academy 2025 Derive, Gianluca Codeghini's exhibition NoiSe><Derive curated by Stefano Jacoviello will open on July 9, from 5 p.m., at the spaces of Palazzo Chigi Saracini, Santa Maria della Scala and Inner Room, in Siena, remaining open until September 14, 2025.
The exhibition, produced in collaboration with the Fondazione Antico Ospedale Santa Maria della Scala, is intrinsically linked to the Festival itself: the works on display best express the idea of Noise on the Drift or Drift of Noise. “A suggestive notion,” Codeghini explains, "that eludes definition because it can be interpreted in the different ways in which the work relates to the viewer depending on the context in which the encounter takes place.
The juxtaposition of noise and drift is not accidental. The latter suggests the idea of a movement that is not guided by a precise direction, but is influenced by external factors or unpredictable forces. The sound element is produced by constant visual stimulation: the noise we perceive among the rooms of the Chigiana can be juxtaposed with blackness, characterized by very low, unintelligible frequencies that exist but that we cannot or do not always manage to hear and understand with our cognitive tools."
The opening of the exhibition will be preceded on Tuesday, July 8, at 9:30 p.m. by a meeting with the artist, who will also present one of his installations in the spaces of Inner Room Siena.
In addition, on Monday, July 21, at 9:15 p.m., Codeghini's piece entitled Piecemeal will be performed at the Church of St. Augustine during the concert Traiettorie.
