Frittelli arte contemporanea promotes for years a research program and in-depth analysis about the artistic route of Visual Poetry and verbal-visual investigations in Italy, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of this current and the crucial role played in the cultural debate through a critical and motivated awareness of the socio-economic, aestetic, ideological effects produced by mass communication.
Born out of the experience of Group 70 founded by Miccini and Pignotti, to which artists such as Ketty La Rocca, Lucia Marcucci and Luciano Ori adhered, Visual Poetry also found an international echo. International activity and exchanges take place both through magazines and in numerous exhibitions that document the spread of Visual Poetry around the world.
On the occasion of Artissima 2024, the exhibition project we proposed for the Main Section will bring together Italian artists such as Nanni Balestrini, Ketty La Rocca, Lucia Marcucci, Luciano Ori, Lamberto Pignotti, Berty Skuber and international artists from the French-speaking area such as Alain Arias-Misson, Jean-François Bory and Henri Chopin.
We think of these artists as shapers of utopias: they created communities, networks and opportunities, exercising extraordinary intellectual vivacity. They dreamt of democratising art through provocation and unpredictability, through aesthetic, poetic and performative initiatives, and they leave us with a fundamental testimony of how art is a constantly changing phenomenon and a vehicle of great cultural impact.
