Frittelli arte contemporanea opens with an exhibition by Mimmo Rotella entitled Cinecittà.

The exhibition was conceived and designed in 2004 by Mimmo Rotella. Through 39 paintings, exactly forty years after his first solo exhibition at the Venice Biennial, the artist re-examines the best-known cycle of his work: the décollages he called “Cinecittà”.

These works dedicated to the icons of the heroes of western modernity, the protagonists of the 1960s film star-system, are in Rotella's poetics a unique corpus, a continuous repetition of the gesture of rebellion against the myths of consumer society.

Unfortunately, his unexpected death makes the exhibition commemorative.

At the same time, the 26 “artypo” from Sandro Petti's collection are presented, which make up a single large assemblage created especially for architect Petti's Roman villa. He was one of Mimmo Rotella's closest friends since the 1950s. This is the first time this work has been exhibited to the public.

Unlike the décollages, the artypo are created by superimpositions of images and tend to enhance a poetics of the machine - the typographic printing press. This is a little-known study of Rotella's work, conducted over a ten-year period between 1965 and 1975; a true testimony to the visual culture and artistic practices of the 1970s.
