Sixty years after the birth of Gruppo 70, Frittelli arte contemporanea gallery opens the exhibition Gruppo 70. Una guerriglia verbo-visiva [Group 70. A verbal-visual guerrilla], curated by Raffaella Perna, conceived to highlight the topicality of one of the most radical movements of Italian art scene in the 1960s. 

The exhibition proposes a transversal look at the research of the group's exponents and puts into dialogue the artworks by Antonio Bueno, Giuseppe Chiari, Ketty La Rocca, Lucia Marcucci, Eugenio Miccini, Luciano Ori and Lamberto Pignotti, with the aim of highlighting their affinities and coherence of aesthetic and political vision. The exhibition emphasizes, in particular, the crucial and pioneering role of Group 70 in the debate on the visual and social effects produced by mass culture at the time of the economic boom and the antagonistic stance taken by the visual poets towards the drifts of capitalism. 

The focus on ecology, the denunciation of sexism and the subordinate role of women in patriarchal culture, the critique of colonialist thinking and the hegemony of the West, the openly pacifist convictions, the interest in the economic and social imbalances caused by the economic miracle are themes at the heart of the poetics of Group 70, contributing to its topicality and to the renewed critical interest that has emerged in the international sphere in this current. 

The exhibition also investigates the interdisciplinary character and verbal-visual encroachments of Group 70: in the exhibition, numerous collages, photographs, archive materials, films and artist's books document the group's strong interest not only in the dialogue between image and word, but also its openness to the territories of performance, theatre, cinema, music and comics.

A series of events related to Visual Poetry will take place on the occasion of the exhibition, including a series of meetings and panel discussions with scholars, artists and curators, and screenings of films from the period. During the months of the exhibition, the gallery will also host an exhibition focus on artists in close dialogue with the members of Group 70.
